FBReader for iPhone and iPad
FBReader for iOS was first introduced on the App Store in September 2017 and is compatible with iOS 9.3 and higher.
The app uses the same engine as FBReader on other platforms, supporting a wide range of text formats. The primary formats include ePub, fb2 (including fb2.zip), and mobi (also known as Kindle azw3). It opens both unencrypted books and ePubs protected with Readium LCP. Additionally, the app can handle HTML, RTF, MS Word documents (*.doc), and plain text files. However, it does not currently support non-text formats like PDF, DjVu, or comics.
The free version of FBReader for iOS comes with a few limitations: your library is capped at ten books, and online translation tools are disabled. You can unlock the full version for a one-time fee.
Please note that the iOS version does not yet support book catalog integration (such as OPDS). We are actively working on this feature, but the release has been postponed to early 2025. This delay is partly due to Apple's stringent App Store guidelines, which currently prevent the integration of external bookstores into the app.
Latest version: 1.2.2, published 16th October 2024
The current version works on devices with iOS/iPadOS 13 and higher. We do not release updates for older systems anymore. However, FBReader 1.1.4 is still available on the App Store for older devices users.
